I love good food… everything about it from the colours, shapes and textures of beautiful fruits and vegetables, to the delicious aromas of herbs and spices, to the fresh and enlivening taste of natural foods and ingredients. Even more amazing is the energy and sense of wellbeing that eating really nourishing foods every day gives me.

I have always had an interest in health and eaten well, but my passion for nutrition grew when I faced my own challenges with complicated Coeliac Disease 10 years ago. Having always been well and full of energy I was suddenly very ill and exhausted all the time. When a strict gluten free diet wasn't enough to fully recover my health and conventional medicine could offer nothing more, I became my own detective, researching optimum ways to manage my condition and feel well again. For me that wasn’t turning to over the counter medication or the Free From aisle in the supermarket, but rather nourishing myself well with natural foods, a few high quality supplements and the help of like-minded complementary therapists. As with most good things there was no magic fix, turning things around took time and my damaged and sensitive digestive system was upset by many healthy foods, but with trial and effort I was able to find foods that loved me back and ways of cooking and eating them that satisfied my inner foodie! 10 years on my health is more vibrant than ever and I am able to enjoy a deliciously diverse, wholesome gluten free diet symptom free.

Like many others who have been inspired by their own experiences, I was hooked! I loved the discoveries I made about the incredible healthful properties of natural foods and the positive changes I saw from eating well .... so much so that I trained as a Nutritional Therapist and completed a masters degree so that I could help others experience the same. What I find most compelling about complementary therapy is that rather than defining health as the absence of symptoms and disease, we see it as the presence of vitality, energy and wellbeing, as a positive, optimal state where we can thrive and get the most out of life. Nutritional Therapy helps you take control of your health through nourishing your body with the nutrients it needs to function well.

I now combine my nutritional therapy practice with roles leading the nutrition team at Penny Brohn UK, a cancer support charity, and as an MSc student supervisor, enabling me to bring rich knowledge and experience of diet and lifestyle science and practice to my work with private clients.
